Our summer program offers students challenging and rewarding work, comprehensive training and strong career development in a professional, yet friendly, environment. Every student will be offered a comprehensive orientation and will have the opportunity to engage in work that aligns with their individual interests. Summer students are exposed to various practice areas and are involved with legal research, drafting of legal documents, and client meetings. Students also gain experience in the practical components of court appearances, closings, and related work.
Our goal at the Vancouver office of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada is to provide our summer articling students with a blend of work experiences, in order to give them broad exposure to diverse areas of law and practice styles during their early careers. Upon joining our firm, you will be placed in a rotational system which includes the Solicitor and Litigation rotations, with 50% of your articles spent in each rotation. Our summer experience also includes numerous continuing education sessions focussed on such topics as legal research, writing, and understanding due diligence, media skills training, and business etiquette - all of which will be helpful as you begin your professional careers.
And we're not all work! We host a number of social events where you'll get to know other students and practitioners within the practice. A few examples include softball, a hockey team, a 24-hour relay team, and the firm's ski team which participates in the annual B.C. Law Firm Ski Championships held in Whistler, BC. We also host TGIF in our Sky Garden on Friday afternoons where there will be a selection of appetizers and beverages for everyone to share while debriefing the week's events and chatting with colleagues.
